Pastoral Team

nullTim Bayer, Senior Pastor
Tim joined the St. Mark's ministry team in 2016. Having served in outdoor ministry as well as congregations in Missouri and Washington, he brings extensive skills and experience to lead our staff and ministry.

Tim holds a Bachelor of Arts from Concordia University Chicago and a Master of Divinity from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. He is also a Doctor of Education candidate at Concordia University Portland (Oregon). He lives in St. Charles with his wife, Beth and their two children, Ethan and Noah. Together, they enjoy the outdoors, travel, and fine wine.

 

nullReuben Baerwald, Pastor Emeritus
Reuben served St. Mark's from 1983-1991. After retirement, he served as the Assistant to the President of the Northern Illinois District of the Lutheran Church Missouri-Synod. Today, he serves as a bible study group leader and wise sage for our staff and ministry leaders.

Reuben holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Divinity from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. He is married to Martha and together, they live in Aurora.

Susan Brown, Worship Director
Susan serves as lead organist for our Saturday evening and early Sunday morning services. Her background in church music, theology, and choirs has equipped her to build a robust collection of musical groups who serve throughout the year at St. Mark's.

Susan holds a Bachelor of Science from Concordia University Nebraska and a Masters of Music from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey. She lives in Wheaton with her husband Charles and their two children, Ian and Miram.

 

nullLoAnn Gaudette, Children's Ministry Coordinator
LoAnn has served as Children's Ministry Coordinator since 2012. Having a background in Christian Education, she continues to equip both young and old to teach children about Jesus' love. She is the point person for Sunday morning programming as well as midweek and seasonal opportunities.

LoAnn resides in South Elgin with her husband, Ernie. Together, they have three daughters, Nicolle, Emily, and Kimmy.

nullTim Johnson, Worship & Community Engagement Director
Tim joined our team in August 2017. He leads our contemporary worship services and mobilizes teams for ministry in our community. He brings a depth of experience from a multi-site ministry in California's Inland Empire ranging from youth and families to early childhood, and worship leading to technical arts/communications. 

Tim holds an education degree from Concordia University in Irvine, California. He lives in St. Charles with his wife, Krista, their three children, and puppy. Together, they enjoy Netflix, board games, going to the park, kids museums, baseball games, and everything Target.

 

Paul Liberg, Facilities
Paul keeps our facilities in tip-top condition. While a handy-man and jack-of-all-trades, he also coordinates all aspects of our physical plant, including our vendor contracts. Overseeing our custodial services, Paul brings a level of excellency and support to all of our ministries. He is married to Linda and enjoys working with his hands and alongside others.

Sean McAdams, Student Ministries and Community Groups Director
Originally an art major, he began coordinating senior high ministry in 2007. As the position grew, so did Sean. Today, Sean directs Junior High, Senior High, and Community Group leaders in discipling students, their families, and adults. He also is the director of St. Mark's Faith Formation Groups, our system of Junior High Confirmation.

He lives in St. Charles with his wife, Jenny and their three children, Reagan, Finn, and Maeve. Sean graduated from Concordia University Chicago and is currently enrolled in Pastoral Leadership Institute's (PLI) Discipleship to Missional Community.

Adriane Nemeth, Senior Pastor's Assistant & Office Administrator
Adriane has become the hub of communication for our ministries. Having grown up at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Mount Prospect, she has always had a love for serving in a congregational setting. Serving as the pastor's assistant, she organizes and manages the ministry's calendar, provides general ministry support, and administers all asepects of our office.

Adriane lives in Geneva with her husband, Brooke. Together, they have three children. She enjoys wine (yes, she's Italian), spending time with her grand children, and serving in the community.

Lorilyn Thomas, Administrative Assistant
Lorilyn has been serving St. Mark's for almost 20 years. She functions as the church's financial assistant, working with the Treasurer to support ministry with the resources God has given to St. Mark's. Growing up in a missionary family, she has a heart to serve and loves seeing God at work through people in the local church.

Lorilyn lives in Geneva with her husband, Mike. Together, they have two children.

 

 

nullKeith Wollenburg, Discipleship Coordinator
Prior to his role at St. Mark's, Keith co-led junior high small groups at Prince of Peace in Palatine (IL) at multiple small groups at St. Mark's. He sees discipling and being discipled as an intregal part of the church's vision as it is an intregal part of Jesus' vision/comman.

Keith is married to Julie and together they have one son, Luke. They have been members at St. Mark's since 2012. They enjoy together as a family, exercising, cooking, computers, and being part of the body of Christ. Keith is also a full-time computer programmer/development manager.

Julie Zimmermann, Early Childhood Director
Julie Zimmermann became a member of St. Mark’s Church in 2006 and has made it her mission to help connect families to Jesus and one another through her volunteer work at church. She has an elementary education degree from Concordia University Chicago and has taught kindergarten, first, and fourth grade in addition to working as a homebound tutor, substitute teacher and early childhood music instructor.

Julie lives in St. Charles with her husband Jonathan and three children, Olivia, Mary Emma, and Jonah – two of whom are St. Mark’s Preschool alumni! In her spare time, Julie enjoys reading, writing, going on family vacations, and watching her children perform in concerts and theater productions around town.

Jody Wendt, Chairperson
Jody's corporate experience has been built on 30+years of leadership in non-for profit, business and community organizations as well as owning her own corporations. Building relationships, keeping open communication, fiscal planning and managing others have been important in creating success. She is married to Dennis and together, they have two sons, Scott and Nathan. They live in Geneva and have been members at St. Mark’s for over twenty years. Jody loves being a mom, wife, and Real Estate Broker. In their free time, they boat, travel, garden, and love to spend time with friends and family.
