Joe Boway was commissioned in January 2004, as a missionary to the people of Liberia, by New Life Lutheran Church of Ft. Wayne Indiana. St. Mark’s Lutheran Church has partnered with Joe & Glendora Boway, who is reaching out to more than 1,300 children in seven Lutheran schools in rural areas of Liberia. For the first time, after 14 years of civil war in Liberia, these children have an opportunity to attend school, hear Bible stories, and learn about the love of Jesus.

Joe explains, “We cannot change what has happened in the past to the children of Liberia, but we can help change their future, and make an eternal difference in their lives.”
The mission of the Liberian Children's Ministry is to help meet the educational and spiritual needs of the children of Liberia in order to give them the real hope that is found only in Christ Jesus.

The Liberian children's Ministry is serving as an extension of the ministering arm of the Lutheran churches in Liberia by providing a quality education for God's children to develop spiritually, physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially.

The vision of the Liberian Children's Ministry is to help share the love of God through Christ-Centered education in an environment where children can grow to their full potential to become leaders who carry the ministry of the local church in the world.

“See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.” Matthew 18:10
